Tender Heart of Compassion (with Guided Meditation)

Last week I had a health scare and it presented me with an opportunity to slow down, offer compassion to myself and reassess aspects of my life. On top of this, thankfully, I was still able to receive my second dose of the COVID vaccine which brought additional mental relief. Whew!

In all, I know that I nor anyone wants to walk the road of pain in whatever form it may take, physical, mental or emotional. When I can bring the Light of Awareness to my fears and tears, the anxious thoughts, or the unpleasant feelings, I am moored in a safe harbor. Love can embrace and hold these all in the safety of truth. The truth that in all, I am held in my Inner Resource or Heartspace. When in this pain of the unknown, I know that I can become stagnant and continue to feed the flame of uncertainty and doubt. Even though it was challenging, I knew that it would not serve me to push aside or deny how I was indeed feeling. When I acknowledged how I felt, it released me from the raging fire so that I would not be consumed by it.

Awareness may not lift the actual pain itself, but it does help us to make peace with the current status. And, sometimes it is indeed lifted. When I honor myself by applying compassion and forgiveness to how I feel, it makes way for equanimity. My vulnerability can actually be empowering. Vulnerability empowers me by the act of tapping into the tender heart of compassion.

In my lifetime I have experienced trauma and tragedy, yet I am still here. I am grateful for the life I have even with its seeming ups and downs. I have the strength within me to hold steady through any challenge. A challenge is an opportunity to be reminded of the truth that I am a divine being having a human experience. My breath anchors me to the present moment where I can meet what arises with kindness. This is why I practice mindfulness meditation, not only to help me to quiet my mind but by its very nature it seeps into the daily occurrences of my life and provides positive change. Mindfulness is not just meditation, but a way of life. A way that provides me with a sense of peace in the face of what may occur.

I also continue to use other practices and modalities that bring comfort and great benefit to my mind, body, and spirit. For that, I am truly grateful.
